A modern west African restaurant, cooking in Nigeria.
Chef Joké Bakare was born and raised in Nigeria. Her London restaurant, Chishuru, holds a Michelin star for food that draws on Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa cooking: the heat, the spice, the fire. For four nights in November the team cooks a set dinner at Lagos Continental Hotel.
Each night is one sitting at one long evening's pace. Tables are sold complete, so you book the whole table for your party: two, four, six or eight guests.
‘Chishuru’ is a Hausa phrase meaning ‘eat silently’, or more poetically, the silence that descends on the table when the food arrives.
